On-Grid solar PV energy System

 

On-Grid systems are universal technology and accepted by all over the world. This method is a professional method for utility Grid and used by all renewable energy power plants like wind, hydro and solar power plants. On-Grid PV systems are designed to operate in parallel with and interconnected with the utility grid. The primary component String/Central inverter converts the DC power produced by the PV array into AC power consistent with the voltage and power quality requirements of the utility grid, and automatically stops supplying power to the grid when the utility grid is not energized.

PRINCIPLE

The solar panels produce DC energy when sun light is available, the String inverter will convert the DC energy to AC energy which can be used inside your home and or be safely sent to the local utility grid. At night and during the shade when your solar system doesn’t make enough energy for your home, you can draw power from the local utility grid. As a result, your electric consumption from utility grid is reduced. On-Grid solar system does not include a battery since all of the energy is consumed as it is produced.

PROS

  • This system does not consist of any batteries, so conversion loss will be reduced two times compared with Hybrid systems. 
  • These units can be connected in parallel to grid power, thus all electrical load in the same circuit will get the benefit of solar power. 
  • No matter how big the electrical load is connected. In future, we can upgrade the system without change or drop any of the existing components. 
  • We can get maximum yield up to 97%. Overall service life is 25 to 35 years.
  • This is the cheapest in the professional higher end models..

  • No mechanical & maintainable parts. So 99% maintenance free.

CONS

The only disappointment is this system requires either Grid or Generator power for normal operation. Thus this system is not suitable for the places where heavy power cuts during the day and the user doesn’t have suitable generator as alternative source.
